The Race To Wainui tour enjoyed the Hutt Valley's finest Winter day since 1878 as it turned on a spectacular morning for round 4. "Par" was the order of the day which caused much confusion for those who had never played it before - none more so than Boyd Atkinson who came smiling into the clubhouse with a score of -11, only to be told that under this system a minus score is bad. He subsequently stormed off early in a huff and missed the days presentation for the first time in tour history.
Dave Eddington made his first appearance of the season, and somehow the worlds only back-foot golfer managed to clean up on the day posting +2. Josh McAlpine was leading with 3 holes to play but channelled his inner Greg Norman and collapsed on the last three holes to finish tied for second with Mr Composure himself, Josh Mooney. Al Bundy posted his first career top 5 with a solid performance, and the "Jukebox" himself Kevin Hintz, had a happy I'm in love performance to round out the top 5. Basically everyone else was rubbish!
Next round also doubles as the first round of the Matchplay - interest was slow so we've limited it to the first 16 entries and at last count there were only 3 spots left so if you're keen let Fairley or Crawford know asap! It will be played on club days alongside the normals day play and requires a committment to attend the next 4 events. A no-show will be a default.
Good times and catch you all at Waikanae
